Coach Hugo is currently coaching at Chaminade High School and joined Chaminade's Crew team in the Spring of 2015.
Coach Hugo was the former Head coach at Manhasset's crew team for the past seven years.
While coaching at Manhasset, coach Hugo led the team to win many NY State Championships, Stotesbury Cup Championships, National Championship and led the team to win the 2012 and 2013 Youth National gold medals and 2014 silver medal on the Lightweight four and Lightweight double. Coach Hugo also led the team to medal several times at the Head of the Charles Regatta including the fall of 2011.
Hugo started his rowing career at Dowling College in 1996. He remained on the team until 1998 when he started to attend the State University of New York. While on the Dowling team, Hugo rowed Novice during the 1996-1997 year and was on the lightweight squad.
Christian Aral has been rowing for the past seven years and will be joining the Harbor Community Rowing staff this summer.
In 2014 and 2015, Christian rowed for Columbia University's first varsity after two years in their second and third boats.
Prior to his career at Columbia, Aral rowed at Chaminade high school from 2008-2012. During his time there, he helped the first varsity consistently rank in the top 10 high school programs in the country.
In the summer of 2011, Christian raced with the US junior development team in their first boat. His crew captured a 2nd place finish in the men's intermediate 4+ in addition to three other grand final finishes in collegiate and senior events.
Aral is studying engineering management systems at Columbia University's School of Engineering and Applied Science and is set to graduate in May 2016.
